Before you say it, I know – this isn’t the first time we’ve talked about gallium nitride (GaN) chargers. But the super-small, super-fast chargers are, frankly, worth getting excited about. I recently had the pleasure of taking Ugreen’s Nexode 200W desktop GaN charger for a spin, and let me tell you: this really is the puck-sized charger you want on your desk.

Ugreen Nexode 200W desktop GaN charger review

Small yet powerful device to fully charge you MacBook Pro in 1.5 hours.

Ugreen’s Nexode 200W desktop GaN charger is perfect for the home office or traveling. The GaN charger can juice six power-hungry devices at the same time; and can fully charge a MacBook Pro is just 1.5 hours.

Pros

  • Six ports for all your charging needs
  • Two USB-C ports with 100W
  • Good heat dissipation

Cons

  • Not the smallest/lightest charger

Price: $150 after 25% discount code: UGW25

Priced at just under $200, Ugreen’s Nexode is a single GaN charging puck that lets you replace up to six chargers instantly. It offers four USB-C ports and two USB-A ports (that’s six in total), meaning you can charge all of your devices simultaneously using a single wall socket. Two of its USB-C ports offer a 100W output, while the remaining ports offer between 65W and 22.5W. Even with all six ports in operation, you’ll draw enough juice to charge a combination of MacBooks, iPads and iPhones.

The perfect puck-sized GaN multi charger.

I’ve been using the Nexode on my desktop to power my MacBook, iPad, and iPhone. This leaves a couple of free ports for other incidental charges – like my Magic Mouse or Magic Keyboard, or a family member’s iPhone. Cable management can be an issue for home office setups, but Nexode helps – the puck looks really nice at the rear of my desk, out of view, and is far better than having countless cables slithering out from numerous wall sockets. And the little rubber feet the Nexode sits on means it won’t side off your desk easily.

Different combinations of ports can deliver different amounts of power.

Form and functionality

My other favorite feature is having the muscle of a 100W charger in my home office for fast-charging. The power of Ugreen’s Nexode means you can fully charge a 16-inch MacBook Pro in just 1.5-hours. And for smaller devices, Nexcode can top off the battery in no time at all. With the Nexode’s improved heat dissipation, you don’t need to worry too much about overheating – something that can be a problem with other GaN chargers.

It’s hard to find fault with the Nexode. If you’re new to the world of GaN multiport chargers, this is definitely one to consider.
