The Lululook Foldable Magnetic Stand for iPad offers a more versatile option thanks to its two-hinge design, but while it improves usability in some ways, it takes away in others.

We love the magnetic iPad stands made by Lululook, but one thing had been missing from them until now: hinges. The original models could rotate or adjust the angle but were permanently stuck at one height.

Lululook has since added a hinge in the base of the stand so the iPad can rest at multiple heights and angles and still be rotated. This increases the usability of the stand by several magnitudes, adding to an already great experience.

Lululook Foldable Magnetic Stand Design

Lululook offers its Foldable Magnetic Stand for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, 11-inch iPad Pro, and iPad Air. The maximum height is nearly identical to the original stand, but the neck is thinner and doesn’t have a cord management hole.

The stand is a little more minimalist thanks to the thinner neck, though Lululook’s logo is prominently displayed on its foot. Magnets align with the iPad magnets to securely attach the device to the stand.

The hinges are stiff and won't budge during use

The user can adjust the top hinge without much effort. With the iPad attached, there is enough weight to increase the rotating force.

The lower hinge is a different matter, as it cannot be adjusted easily with one hand, or even two. We found ourselves picking up the stand to get leverage to adjust the angle of the lower hinge.

We noticed that the iPad could come free of the magnet’s grip if you attempt to apply too much force to adjust the angle. However, the iPad sits rigidly on the stand when using the Apple Pencil, especially when in a lower easel-like orientation.

Fold up the stand into a somewhat compact shape for storage

The ability to fold the stand small is another improvement over the original design. With the iPad removed, the stand folds into a compact piece that can slip into a backpack easily.

Using the Lululook Foldable Magnetic Stand

There are pros and cons to any stand that has dynamic adjustability. For example, non-folding stands aren’t adjustable, so all you can do is place the iPad and rotate it, though this is naturally a rapid process.

The Lululook Foldable Magnetic Stand needs more adjustments to get started, especially if it was previously folded up for storage. Setting up the stand can take a moment and some patience as you set the correct angles on each hinge, then ensure it doesn’t topple over.

Use the iPad in portrait or landscape, raised or lowered at plenty of angles

Because the bottom hinge is challenging to adjust without picking up the stand, it can be a bit of a guessing game to get all the angles right before putting the stand back down. If the neck is too far forward, it will tilt over.

A larger or heavier foot could’ve solved this, but that would have traded off weight and portability. We believe Lululook struck a good balance here, but it isn’t perfect.

We love that the stand is highly versatile and can work at several angles.

The rigidity of the hinges is a positive once everything is set up. There’s practically no danger of the iPad moving at all, even when drawing.

Should you buy the Lululook Foldable Magnetic Stand?

Lululook’s Foldable Magnetic Stand is an excellent option if you are in the market for a rigid yet maneuverable stand that can be carried anywhere. We love the stand’s versatility despite the stiff hinges’ drawbacks, and it looks great too.

The Lululook Foldable Magnetic Stand improves on the old design in almost every way

We’ve found ourselves leaving the iPad on the stand as we move around our home, adjusting the angles depending on where it is used. Its light weight and adjustability make it a good option for those seeking a single iPad stand to rule them all.

  • Multiple use angles
  • Folds up for storage
  • Rigid hinges mean no wobble or drift
  • But, rigid hinges also mean difficulty adjusting
  • Logo on the foot
  • Foot could be heavier to better balance

Rating: 4.5 out of 5
