Apple is planning to announce its long-rumored new MacBook Air at Monday’s WWDC according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman – but there’s a catch.
Gurman notes that while the new machine is earmarked to make a debut on June 6, the launch could be postponed if earlier factory closedowns in China created a large enough
supply and release date gap that the release would be hindered and “wouldn’t make sense” to launch it at WWDC.
“The new MacBook Air has been planned to launch at WWDC,” wrote Gurman on Twitter over the weekend. “I think the only way it doesn’t is if the China factory shutdowns created such a supply and release date gap that it wouldn’t make sense to announce it on Monday.”
Gurman reported today how previous reports about the new machine launching in a range of iMac-like colors is “exaggerated,” noting how the standard space gray, silver, and gold colors on the existing models are likely to stay with the addition of blue.

Reports have suggested that the 2022 MacBook Air will be the first Mac to feature Apple’s new “M2” chip with an eight-core CPU like the M1 processor in the 24-inch iMac, boasting a more powerful 10-core GPU.
Leaker Jon Prosser has previously claimed that the new MacBook Air could feature a MacBook Pro-style notch, MagSafe charging, white bezels, and more.
Jon Prosser first shared his 2022 MacBook Air concepts last year which allegedly were based on information from a source with a proven track record who claimed Apple will bring “colors for average consumers” with colorful MacBook models, which will feature iMac-style white bezels, a new non-wedge design, white keyboard, and more.
