Apple reportedly intends to launch some new color options for the AirPods Max this fall.
The premium over-ear headphones are already available in five shades, but the Cupertino company seemingly intends to offer them in some more colors.
AirPods Pro 2 may launch this fall
In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman further says that the AirPods Pro 2 will launch this fall. The wireless earbuds were first announced in late 2019, so they have been on the market for nearly three years now without any refresh.
Many early adopters of the product must be now looking for an upgrade or replacement since the batteries inside their unit would be on their last legs.
The AirPods Pro 2 are expected to feature a sleeker design with a shorter stem, a redesigned charging case, and support for lossless playback. There are also rumors of them sporting new sensors for health tracking. However, it is unclear if this will turn into a reality or not.
New color options for the AirPods Max incoming
While the AirPods and AirPods Pro are only available in white, Apple offers the AirPods Max in five colors: silver, space gray, sky blue, pink, and green. The company does tend to launch some of its products in new colors as a mid-cycle refresh — the iPhone 13 lineup gained a new green color in March this year as a spring update.
The Cult of Mac‘s AirPods Max review noted that the headphones deliver excellent audio quality and ANC. However, a report from a year after its launch indicated that AirPods Max owners gave it a thumbs down due to its steep price, especially when compared to the competition.
While new color options are always welcome, it is unlikely to have any noticeable impact on the sales of Apple’s premium headphones since that’s not the primary reason behind their lackluster sales.
